Remember how happy you were the last time you got to scream / sing “don’t stop me now, if you wanna have a good time, just give me a caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall”?
Now imagine there was a magical place that played song after song of equally greats hits that you could yell your little heart out to and that best of all, so many other people would be doing the same that no-one would even notice the tunefulness (or lack thereof) of your efforts.
Well my fellow singing superstars, imagine no longer, get yourself down to the Electric Ballroom in Camden and make the dream a reality.
As well as providing the music of legends, you’ll be forgiven for thinking you’ve been transported into a 90s / school disco-like venue, with inflatable guitars / microphones / saxophones, faux mullets as far as the eye can see and a fair amount of neon. But when in the presence of Bon Jovi, Meatloaf, Whitney and more, it’d be rude not to dress the part, wouldn’t it?
With a 6 hour ‘fest’ of power ballads to fill, it takes a little while for the party to warm up (it starts to get feisty around half 11), but then again, you would’t want to pull a muscle strumming your air guitar too early in the night….what would Slash say!
My top tips for a successful power ballads evening:
– Wear your flattest shoes
– Model clothes you don’t mind getting hot and sweaty in
– Bring your “best” singing voice
– Lose you inhibitons, because ‘ain’t’ nobody getting out of here with their dignity in tact
