I initially found out about Letters Live through a Timeout Twitter post and have wanted to go ever since.
I can’t think of a better way to summarise what you’ll experience, than to quote from the team themselves “remarkable letters are read by a diverse array of outstanding performers”.
On the night i attended, i got to hear from Sophie Dahl, Jamie Cullum, Noel Fielding, Alison Steadman, Gary Kemp, Amanda Abbington, Natascha McElhone, Colin Salmon and Simon Day. We heard a hilarious letter from Bette Davis to her daughter, some advice from Frank Sinatra to a young George Michael and Sophie Dahl pouring her heart out to two young Syrian boys she met at the Calais refugee camp.
If Letters Live were a film, it would be categorised as a comedy, action, documentary, biographical and historical drama. The readings you hear will make you laugh, cry and leave you wanting more. Essentially the evening was an emotional roller coaster from beginning to end, and i loved every minute of it!
No events are currently scheduled, so keep an eye on their website or follow them on Twitter to make sure you don’t miss out. For a sneak peak of what you can expect if you’re luck enough to get tickets, take a look here.
